Nothin' like an old-fashioned 'hen party'!

There is nothing like a good friend. They are there when you are having "man" problems, they are there to commiserate about job issues, they help get you through the loss of a loved one, they are always willing to go shopping with you, they are brave enough to pull you out of the store when you are getting crazy, and they are never afraid to share their recipes!

My friend Roseann has a big personality, and an even bigger heart!   She sent out an email to her nearest and dearest for a girls' night in  -- and a good time was had by all.   I hadn't seen some friends in months, and one friend I hadn't seen in many years.  Lots of good conversation and lots of laughter.  There were munchies, crumb cake, champagne punch and even a little 'bling'.  Something for everyone.

I thought I would share Roseann's recipe for her delicious crumb cake:

One box of Duncan Hines French Vanilla cake mix (do not use a mix with pudding already added)
1 box Jello instant vanilla pudding
 1 cup water
½ cup canola or vegetable oil
4 eggs

Mix all ingredients and bake in a 13x9 greased pan,  use spray on bottom and sides), don’t flour the bottom.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.  Take out of oven (cake will not be fully cooked) and top with crumb recipe below:

Crumb Topping  (if you like more crumbs, 1-1/2 times  the recipe)

2 sticks (1/2 lb) melted butter
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
 2 Tbsp. cinnamon

Melt butter in microwave.  Add all other ingredients.  (Refrigerate while cake is baking).

After 25-30 minutes, take the cake out and crumble the crumbs on top.  Bake for another 20 minutes until crumbs looked lightly brown but not too dark.

Cool completely then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.  Enjoy!

Hope you take a few minutes this week and catch up with an old friend, and maybe have a 'hen' party of your own!  xo,
