Oh Oh Oh

That is the letter for this week's Alphabe-Thursday over at Jenny Matlock.  The first thing that came to mind was

Oprah Winfrey

Yes, The Big O herself.  (She looks good in the color orange). Oh boy, do I miss her show in the late afternoon.  I often dreamed of getting tickets for her show, and offered a little prayer to be in the audience on the day it was Oprah's Favorite Things!  Ms. O overcame many obstacles in her early years to get where she is.  Oprah was never too ostentatious, and felt obligated to pay it forward.  The Oprah Show officially ended in May, but we have her new network, OWN.  Hope the ratings improve, only time will tell.  Oprah will never disappear into obscurity.

  6. Outstanding O post!

I know you already used that "O" word, but I couldn't think of any other good one.

She once came to my daughters' college town/city, and her show was the favorite things show. So close... so close...

  9. Yes, I didn't watch her everyday, but she was always there and when the topic interested me I watched. Now all we'll have on the local channels is the news at 4:00. I'm rooting for the OWN network to get better.

  21. Dearest Barbara,

Well, in this downward economy I'd rather play with the word Optimistic... Let's hope that will pull us through!
As for Oprah, she was just a cunning emotion-centered talk show host (she started at the age of 19...) and became a billionaire that way. I've never worshiped her though.

    Lots of love,

    Mariette

I had a pair of them for years and then started being away from home so much they were pulling their feathers out. Had to find them a good home, but I still miss my boys! 38. Hi Barbara,
I hope you're having a good weekend! I love Carole King too and it reminds me of high school...Later, when I was in my early 20s, I saw her in concert in Los Angeles...It was an awesome concert. She actually wrote the song Locomotion and did it on stage and a bunch of people danced with her and formed a train...it was so cute!

  42. It is hard to think of the letter O without thinking of Ms. Oprah. I don't get the OWN network here...so, she has just disappeared. It seems so strange after all these years of watching and taping her shows.

  43. I will miss her show every afternoon, too! She is an amazing lady who has a lot of wisdom! ♥
