Summertime Blues

No, I am not complaining, I would rather this weather than what we had during the winter.  As long as there are no power outages, all is well.

I took another class at the Alice Austen Museum last Saturday.  There  are always plenty of photo opportunities there.  During the class, there was a wedding on the front lawn.   I could not resist snapping a few photos.  What is it about a wedding that draws you in, even when the people involved are total strangers?  For me, it was the hydrangeas in the bouquets and the color and style of the bridesmaids' dresses.

Luckily the musicians were in the shade

The scene stealers :)

Went by so quickly, but I loved the chignon
Love the expression on the little one's face

Penny for their thoughts!  When will it be my day?, they might be thinking   :)
What's wrong, Daddy?  she seems to be saying
On her way to a new life.........blessings to the young couple

There are always flowers blooming in the garden.  Many diligent volunteers work hard to keep everything beautiful.

Verrazano Bridge ( looking at Brooklyn across the water)  and war memorial

A slightly clearer shot of Manhattan than the one I was able to take back in June.  If you missed that post click here.

I will be linking up with

Stay cool!

  1. hi Barbara. Wow was your timing right on to be at your class last Saturday. I think everyone loves a wedding, and they always stop me in my tracks when I happen across one, and we've seen quite a few during out travels. The little girls here are so sweet and a beautiful day for this lovely bride. The gardens are beautiful there. Love the last two photos in your post. Great shot of the bridge and of Manhattan.
Hope your having a great weekend

  3. Hello Barbara:
We keep reading of the record breaking temperatures you are experiencing and think that life must be rather difficult at present as it is so very hot.

How fortunate to have captured the wedding. As you say, somehow one always feels part of the whole occasion and so much fascinating people watching to do. A perfect location by the water!

Keep cool and long may the AC keep functioning!

  5. Hi, my friend!!!
Oh yes☆☆☆ I have exactly the same feeling for the season. I think summer doesn't like me (hope this English works!) because of several elements.....
But come to think of it, why blue implies mentally under the weather? I feel sorry for the lovely nice color for summer. OH, I have to check(^^;)
Anyways, always nice to see happy occasion, isn't it♡♡♡ And thank you for sharing beautiful flowers.
I'd never have a chance to visit your city and Manhattan... oh makes me blue a bit.
Big Hugs and lots of Love, xoxo Orchid.

  8. The wedding pictures are lovely. I am with you on the heat. I'll take heat to blizzards, but am really praying that we have no blackouts. I made a decision that for this weekend I am avoiding the subway and found blessedly cold buses today.

  16. Hi Barbara,

Looks like you and I are both working on our photography skills. It's kind of addictive, isn't it? I love your post; it's sooo summery. The blue water behind the musicians is so pretty and serene, and the wedding colors are lovely.

What a nice place for you to take photography classes; there's so much wonderful material close at hand to photograph! I love the hydrangeas. Thanks so much for your visit to my blog this weekend and for taking time to leave a comment. Oh, and to answer your question, Old Salem does decorate for Christmas, and I had kind of already planned to do a post. Hope I don't get too busy :-)

  26. You are a gal after my own heart. (Scary, isn't it?) I am so drawn to weddings that I can could pretty much be a wedding crasher with very little encouragement.

Wasn't that blue in the dresses absolutely stunning for this time of year?

  27. Your stroll through the park certainly gave you plenty for Blue Monday. I am sure Sally's link was up after midnight. I just was not aware of it until I had published my post.

  40. *sigh* Hydrangeas...they just make me happy! I also like this better than winter (I think) because of the sunshine and longer days. But, this heat really gets to me and I feel trapped inside. At least in winter we can bundle up and still leave the house without feeling sick! This is why my favorite is fall...a little bit of compromise!
