If it's Thursday

it is time to join Jenny Matlock for Alphabe-Thursday.  We are up to the letter P.

A rather perplexing letter.  It has a hard sound, such as in words like 'put' or 'putt' or 'prince', yet, it can sound like an "F" in words like "phenomenal" and "physical".  Pondering  this letter a little more, it also can sound like an "S", as in "psychic" and "psychiatrist".

It is the first letter of some of my favorite words:

Prayer

Parents

nice people, just borrowed the photo

Pets

My parrot Kiwi and cockatiel PearlAngel

and a long posting of pretty delicious foods that please me, such as pizza, potatoes, plump peaches, plums, peppers, parsnips (parsnips??), pickles, popcorn, peas, peanuts, and pasta (pass the Parmesan cheese, please).

I have certainly been pensive about this letter, and it is now past my bedtime.  Hoping to have pleasant dreams.

  1. WOW!!! My dear Barbara,
    I love this post☆☆☆
Yes, ph=f sound thing is one of the hardest for students to understand. I tell them that knowing this makes them easier to spell these words.
    Haha,I think "pensive" for them!!!
    Good Night my Dear friend.
    I just finished my lunch.
Lots of love and Hugs xoxo, Orchid.

  11. Dearest Barbara,

This is easy for me! Of course the 'P' comes for my true love PIETER. And also for my daddy whom I call Papa... Dutch and European tradition. That will do I guess!
Wishing you a lovely evening and a great Friday, followed by a wonderful weekend.
    Love,
    Mariette
