"V" is for

one of my favorite vocalists, Bobby Vee.

Born Robert Thomas Velline in April 1943, his career got started under tragic circumstances.  When Buddy Holly and Richie Valens were killed in a plane crash, Bobby stepped in to finish the tour.

While searching the vast world of You Tube, one can listen to all their favorite songs from years gone by.

Bobby Vee had a very smooth voice, he sang with a lot of heart.  My favorite song of his is "Take Good Care of My Baby", which rose to No. 1 on September 18, 1961.  That song is 50 years old and I still like it!

Bobby Vee is still touring with his sons.

Vade mecum back to 1961

Now, I need to stop with the vagaries and concentrate on vacuuming.

  4. Hi Barbara,

I remember that song, but I didn't remember the artist. That is so interesting that he finished the tour for Buddy Holly and Richie Valens. Such a sad ending for their career. Isn't You Tube a great thing? I like to pull up my favorite songs and/or videos and watch there too. This is such a cute post -- enjoy your vacuuming :)

  6. V-v-very good choice! I happen to love that song, even though it was already an oldie when I came along. I have always fit in a more v-v-vintage generation than my own.

  14. I still love that song too. One of our class members has an extensive collection of 50'/60's music and a fabulous sound system. He provided music at our reunion last weekend. It was absolutely wonderful!

  16. Thanks for the trip down memory Lane with Bobby Vee. I checked out his web site and saw pictures of him with various artists of the day. One picture was with Tony Orlando. I wonder if it is the same Tony from Dawn? Also I saw a picture of Bobby taken in Dix Hills in 2007 of all places! Lol
