A Little Christmas Tree

I am done with the decorating.  I will still be rearranging until the day I take it down, and I actually did more than I thought I would.

The sled I bought from an Amish carpenter in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the early 90's.  It is not large but solid wood and heavy.

The reindeer is the passenger rather than the "horsepower" with this sled.

Love Starbucks

My pretty- close- to- being- vintage Precious Moments Nativity.  My mother won it at a church Christmas fair in the early 80's. The angel usually has the place of honor on top of the tree, she is also close to 25 years old, but I put a new star up instead.

Some of my vintage (1950's) Gurley candles.  Never knew their name until I recently saw them on Pinterest.

The entertainment center is hard to photograph so I just chose my favorite cubby.  The potpourri in the dish is several years old and still fragrant.  It is called Jingle Bells, and it contains two rusty old jungle bells.

Stockings made by me getting ready to be hung.  Mine is missing, along with a few other things.  In 1100 square feet you would think that it would be easy to find things.  Not!

Now I need to wrap some gifts and get them by the tree. Sharing my very favorite Christmas song.  I get more stuff done while bopping around to this music.

  11. Hello Barbara:
You have such lovely things with which to decorate your house for Christmas and we really do love the way many of your treasured items date back over the years. Traditional!!

  12. Your home looks so festive! love it. I just found out we are going to have our first Starbuck; very excited.

  13. Lots of family traditions around your house. Enjoyed your decorations so much. Richard from My Old Historic House.

  14. The tree looks lovely and enjoyed hearing about memories and family treasures.

  15. I love your beautiful Christmas decorations. I love family traditions. :))

  16. I think your little Christmas tree is lovely. Your home looks very Christmasy and isn't that what it is all about. I mentioned to my Hubby I wanted to decorate our car for our drive out of state to visit with family at Christmas. He doesn't think the decor would last driving on the turnpike for 9 hours. Maybe I could duct tape it down good and hope the wind doesn't tear it all apart. LOL!

  17. I have a little high chair made by the Amish, they are so solid! Merry Christmas to you! ;D

  18. Hi B!
I love that sled, what a treasure. I have the same Precious Moments Nativity set, dh gave it to me many years ago. I have the animals, shepherds and Kings too. It is so sweet!
Everything is looking very festive there! Have a great Sunday!

  19. Love your little tree!!! I put a little tree up this year too! The look so cute on a little table. Merry Christmas!

  20. Love the way your're decorating! Merry Christmas! Pat

  21. B - funny when I saw that little snowman in the sleigh, I thought to myself he must be thinking..."Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

  22. Hi Barbara,
I love your Christmas decorations, especially the sled. The stockings that you made are really lovely. I cross-stitched one for my son last year. I now want to make a stocking for my baby, but not this year though.
    Happy Holidays!

  23. Very cute decorations. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  24. It was so fun seeing your holiday decorations. I think my favorite had to be the reindeer who is catching a ride on the sleigh. Enjoy this last week before Christmas!

  25. Merry Christmas sweetheart.

  26. I love your little Christmas tree. Everything is oh so cute. It all looks so homey and inviting. Enjoy the holiday. Hugs

  27. I love your sled! The Amish craftsmen are such excellent carpenters. You are so lucky to have such a great treasure!!

    Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  28. Your home looks very festive and ready for a joyous Christmas, Barbara! Your Precious Moments Nativity set is so sweet.
I love your handmade stockings. My home is around the same size as your and I have the same trouble finding things at!

I celebrated an early Christmas in Colorado with my family this past week so my holiday at home will be quiet, but cozy, this year.

  29. Barbara~ I love your little Amish handmade sled! I hope Santa is bringing Kiwi & Pearl some special treats for their stockings :) Merry Christmas!

  30. Hi Barbara,
I love your little chior kid candles. Never knew they had a name either but I do remember them as a kid. Mom had quite a few. Your home looks so festive. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful holiday!

ps: Mom made her fruit cake this year. The recipe makes 2 big loaves and one is gone already. I really should post the recipe as it is so simple and yummy.

  31. Your decorations are wonderful, and it seems like they have special meaning to you. You know which one was my favorite? Those red stockings. I was just talking with my sister about the traditions that we used to have growing up, and my mom made us the same stocking as these, only with silver glitter. I wish I still had them. Such sweet memories. Merry Christmas.

  32. Hi Barbara,

I looked at this post when you first published it, but I haven't had any time this past week to leave comments for anyone. Your decorations are so cheerful! Your tree is filled with wonderful ornaments; I like the partridge in the pear tree ornament, the little muffin tin, the beautiful birds, and the crocheted angel. Even a Starbucks coffee cup; I should put a coffee cup on ours as well. :)

I can tell your ornaments all have special meaning for you, and those are my favorite kind. I don't really like "decorator" trees, if you know what I mean. I love your Gurley candles; my mom has some of those and they're so sweet. I think they belonged to my grandmother. Also love the rusty jingle bells in your potpourri. :)

Your home looks very festive for the holiday season, and I loved seeeing it all. Thanks so much for visiting me and for the kind comments.
