A Little Christmas Tree

I am done with the decorating.  I will still be rearranging until the day I take it down, and I actually did more than I thought I would.

The sled I bought from an Amish carpenter in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the early 90's.  It is not large but solid wood and heavy.

The reindeer is the passenger rather than the "horsepower" with this sled.

Love Starbucks

My pretty- close- to- being- vintage Precious Moments Nativity.  My mother won it at a church Christmas fair in the early 80's. The angel usually has the place of honor on top of the tree, she is also close to 25 years old, but I put a new star up instead.

Some of my vintage (1950's) Gurley candles.  Never knew their name until I recently saw them on Pinterest.

The entertainment center is hard to photograph so I just chose my favorite cubby.  The potpourri in the dish is several years old and still fragrant.  It is called Jingle Bells, and it contains two rusty old jungle bells.

Stockings made by me getting ready to be hung.  Mine is missing, along with a few other things.  In 1100 square feet you would think that it would be easy to find things.  Not!

Now I need to wrap some gifts and get them by the tree. Sharing my very favorite Christmas song.  I get more stuff done while bopping around to this music.

The Nativity set is so sweet and I didn't know the name of the Gurley candles until now. Like you I will be rearranging decorations until they come down. Enjoy the countdown....

  16. I think your little Christmas tree is lovely. Your home looks very Christmasy and isn't that what it is all about. I mentioned to my Hubby I wanted to decorate our car for our drive out of state to visit with family at Christmas. He doesn't think the decor would last driving on the turnpike for 9 hours. Maybe I could duct tape it down good and hope the wind doesn't tear it all apart. LOL!

  22. Hi Barbara,
I love your Christmas decorations, especially the sled. The stockings that you made are really lovely. I cross-stitched one for my son last year. I now want to make a stocking for my baby, but not this year though.

I love your handmade stockings. My home is around the same size as your and I have the same trouble finding things at times..lol!

I celebrated an early Christmas in Colorado with my family this past week so my holiday at home will be quiet, but cozy, this year.

  30. Hi Barbara,
I love your little chior kid candles. Never knew they had a name either but I do remember them as a kid. Mom had quite a few. Your home looks so festive. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful holiday!

ps: Mom made her fruit cake this year. The recipe makes 2 big loaves and one is gone already. I really should post the recipe as it is so simple and yummy.

  31. Your decorations are wonderful, and it seems like they have special meaning to you. You know which one was my favorite? Those red stockings. I was just talking with my sister about the traditions that we used to have growing up, and my mom made us the same stocking as these, only with silver glitter. I wish I still had them. Such sweet memories. Merry Christmas.

  32. Hi Barbara,

I looked at this post when you first published it, but I haven't had any time this past week to leave comments for anyone. Your decorations are so cheerful! Your tree is filled with wonderful ornaments; I like the partridge in the pear tree ornament, the little muffin tin, the beautiful birds, and the crocheted angel. Even a Starbucks coffee cup; I should put a coffee cup on ours as well. :)

I can tell your ornaments all have special meaning for you, and those are my favorite kind. I don't really like "decorator" trees, if you know what I mean. I love your Gurley candles; my mom has some of those and they're so sweet. I think they belonged to my grandmother. Also love the rusty jingle bells in your potpourri. :)

Your home looks very festive for the holiday season, and I loved seeeing it all. Thanks so much for visiting me and for the kind comments.

    Blessings,

    Denise at Forest Manor
