My Head Hurts

I am wondering if it is time to end this blogging business ....... even though my one year anniversary is next month.

I am annoyed with Blogger for taking Google Friend Connect away from us.  I have Networked Blogs on my sidebar and just today added the Linky gadget.  I inherited some unknown followers, one is Brett who is Mr. Linky.  Does this mean that I will be automatically added to blogs I have no clue about?  How do I transfer blogs I follow, or do I wait for people to refollow.  Can I have too many options?

Networked Blogs is telling me I need to be validated.  Maybe this is just a bad dream, and it will go away when I wake up?

All I know is that I have a sharp pain over my right eye, all stemming from this nonsense.

Why can't they leave well enough alone?

  1. Barbara, from what I've read, the changes to GFC are really going to affect non-blogspot bloggers. Blogspot bloggers will still have their followers. Of course, until March 1, I guess we won't really know what's going to happen. Ugh! Pass the advil, please! :)

  2. And while they're at it, they can just leave Picnik alone too!

  4. I have Google Chrome and Bloggers and I have heard none of this stuff every one is going on about. Maybe you just need to change providers? I am lost, this is all news to me. Richard from My Old Historic House.

  5. I have google chrome too, and no one has sent anything to me personally, but I did the Mr. Linky thing. Does that mean there is some way I have to connect my blog to it each time I post? I'm confused. Usually I ask my 140 high school students, but they don't blog and don't have a clue on this computer glitch.

  7. Well, I am not yet a three-month "veteran" of blogging, so I am definitely no help! I haven't tried to post to my blog today, so I don't know what I will find. I am a new follower of this blog, however, and it was on my Blogger page just now. The Man of the House always says we need to run in the opposite direction when we see the words "new and improved."

  8. Hi Barbara,

Please don't quit. We would miss you and you would miss us. :)

We're kind of all in the same boat with this (I think) and hopefully, we'll all get it figured out. I'm really aggravated with Google Blogger about this, too.

    Take care.

  10. I'm with you my friend! I'm not a techie at all and this stuff just causes me grief. It appears as though GFC is going away for non-blogspot folks but who knows how many it will affect? I cannot even update my Blog List! Can you? Grrr...

Let me know if you find any answers...I will do the same!

  11. From what I have read GFC is only going away for non-Blogger blogs. That being said I don't know if that means we (who are Bloggers) will "lose" our followers who are non-Bloggers. Also I've been reading about the new look Blogger is testing and found where you can go to see how your blog or any blog will look under the new format. So far I'm not impressed and would rather keep the current format. However, things will change regardless of how we feel about it unfortunately.

  14. I was having so many problems that I had to go with Google Chrome; so far it seems to be going OK, but have no idea what is happening March 1st.
I am with Bloggger but use Windows Writer to compose and then publish it to Blogspot; anyone else do that?
I read I should install Linky gadget' I tried and never succeeded.
What will I do without my Blog???
The more it goes the more I am confused; getting that HEADACHE.

  15. I'm with you, friend, why can't they leave well enough alone? But please don't end the blogging business, as you are one of my favorites. Happy Valentine's Day, sweetie.

  16. Hang in there, Barbara! We will get it all figured out; change is a fact of life. I don't like change myself but I accept it. We will all hang in together.

  18. Hang in there Barbara! Blogger has changed many things over the years but sooner or later we all adjust and adapt to the new ways. I'd miss you if you left blogging ---is is almost one year already? Wow --time flies! {{ Hugs}} and feel better!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  19. Barbara,
Each one is a membership. I have found that Linky is easier to use than networked blogs. It's not automatic although I wish it were.
Yes hang in there. Some people have all three.

  20. I am ignoring it, maybe it will go away! :)
I have not read anywhere that it is going away for blogger blogs, so until they tell us, I know nothing!
    Happy Valentine's Day!

  21. Barbara- did you read my post about Linky Followers? You can read more HERE. You are on blogspot, so you won't lose GFC. Yet.... I do believe it will go away and we end up w/Google+ eventually. I've added LF so I can have a heads up on my followers if and when that does happen. I'd be happy to help some of your followers and commenters if they have questions. I've found LF to be very user friendly. Google Reader will not be available to non-Blogger subscribers, so LF will be a good alternative. The only downside is that everyone needs to update their new blog posts, as opposed to what Google Reader does with automatic RSS feed updates. Still, not a big issue. If you have any questions, shoot me an e-mail. Or you can call and I could walk you thru some stuff. Let me know! hugs, Sue

  22. To answer a couple of your questions- which I forgot to do in my long comment above... You cannot transfer your GFC followers to Linky Followers. You have to add them thru LF if they are a LF subscriber or you can go into LF and add them into a special category if they are not. It isn't hard. You will have to wait for people to start following you thru your widget, just as I did tonite. I didn't know you had joined LF. I would visit all of your followed blogs to see if they are on LF. Follow them if they are. If they aren't, add them in via a special category within your dashboard on LF. Let me know if I can help you. ~ Sue

  23. Don't quit blogging, but maybe take a month off...or only blog once weekly. The break will do you good. :-)

  25. Hi Barbara, thanks for stopping by my blog! I have no clue what is going on. The first I heard of it was last weekend when I read about it on someone Else's blog. Needless to say, I haven't made any changes or added anything, hope I'm not left out in the cold come March 1st! Have a wonderful weekend, Nan

  26. Barbara, I'm trying to get caught up but working on a schlumpy borrowed computer makes it difficult.

That's why I'm just seeing this.
I do relate so much and last week (BEFORE Della made the decision for me) I had just about decided that it was time to say good-bye to blogger.

But then, I started thinking about the whole thing and decided to stop worrying about the GFC for now. Maybe I'm making a mistake, but I scanned my list of blogs, and most of them are from blogspot anyway. My relationship with those blogs won't change, as I understand it. I'll still be able to follow you and the majority of others after the 1st.

The ones affected will be the non blogspot ones. I looked at the ones in that category with whom I have a relationship, and I think I can keep up with them another way, like a favorites folder or just putting them on my blog sideboard and clicking from there. (As it is now, I never remember to check that or even add blogs to it. I basically ignore it.)

So... I'm not letting this bother me for now. To be honest, the whole rush to get new "linky" followers that I saw last week in blog land (and tempted to consume me too) just gave me the ick factor.

Said all that to say this: I really, really like your blog and will be keeping up though my home page the same way I have been doing. If you should change your blog to a .com or wordpress, I'll still follow you. It won't be with linky followers right now, but I'll figure a way to follow.

    You're worth it.
Please don't let this steal your fun.

  28. Hi Barbara!

You commented just before me on Brenda's Cozy Little House. Sounds like you and I are on the same wavelength about her "Authenticity" post.

Now about the friends thing. I also don't wan't to lose my contacts and now have Linky Friends. It is SO confusing with all the misinformation out there. I am not really sure how to go about it.

    xoxo Bunny Jean

  30. Just stopping in to say hi! I'm decided to just wait and see if anything changes March 1. I enjoy blogging way too much to quit!

  31. Thanks Barbara for stopping by. I just put a Linky followers up on my blog but not a pic yet. I want to take a new pic with my new hairdo for my picture. Gotta do it soon. If I change by picture on Blogger does it change everywhere it is on the net?? So many questions so much to understand. Yikes!
