Happy Independence Day

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics, where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but this is patriotism.

I don't decorate my home for July 4th, but I do fly my flag from May through mid-September in front of my house.  I like to put a patriotic wreath on my front door.  This is a recent purchase.

Today happens to be my little bird, Pearl Angel's, third birthday.    Happy Birthday, Pearlie.  A sweet little bird.  




Stay cool, and have a very happy and safe July 4th.  I will be joining Seasonal Sundays at The Tablescaper and Sally for Blue Monday.

  43. Happy Birthday Pearlie!! We put the flag out on holidays, but that is it for my decorations. I guess I would do more if I had people coming, but this year it is so hot that we won't even be outside ourselves from the looks of it! I love the door decor!

  64. I like wall baskets since they are more unusual than the traditional wreath. Your patriotic one is very pretty and looks nice with your home. Hope you had a great July 4th.

    It was fun seeing your bird too. I've always wanted a pet bird, but well I have 2 dachshunds (hunting dogs....they find birds outside) so the bird will have to be a pipe dream since it would never have a moment's peace in my house.

  66. Barbara, I think it will be my job! Luis took care of them when they were smaller and needed to be cleaned every day, but I"m hoping it won't be so bad now that they are out in the woods all day!
