Late Spring Table

While grocery shopping a few weeks ago, I wandered down the housewares aisle.  (I never seem to pay attention to my shopping list :o).   I saw these dishes in a slightly beat up box and brought them over to the Customer Service desk.

Gibson Everyday (no pattern name).  Sixteen piece set, service for four marked $29.95, reduced to 50% off.   Lilac and birds, two favorites of mine, and they did not weigh a ton.   I decided to buy them.

I'd love to get a hummingbird feeder but don't have a good spot to hang it.

I 'made' my own napkins (they are still a work-in-progress). I found just enough fabric to make four napkins.

I like using purple accessories, in spring and in the fall.

I like the pop of green with the purple.  These silk daisies are for an upcoming craft project.  They looked nice here.  I wanted to post this earlier, with the hopes that at least one of my three lilac bushes would have bloomed.  I could have picked a bunch for a centerpiece, but no luck this year.

I bought the s&p's in the basket at a craft fair in northern New Jersey a couple of years ago.

Grilling chicken, one for dinner and one to add to a salad another day. Just sprinkled liberally with lemon pepper and a drizzle of olive oil.

Dishes by Gibson Everyday found at Waldbaum's Supermarket
Place mats, tumblers, white flatware, Christmas Tree Shop
White birds in basket salt and peppers, Lambert Castle Craft Fair, Patterson NJ
Vase, Dollar Tree
Silk daisies, A.C. Moore
Fabric for napkins, A.C. Moore
Serving platter and pitcher in background from Home Goods, last year

I am joining Kathleen for her Let's Dish party, Jann for her Share Your Cup party, (also #13!) and The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays.

  13. I LOVE those dishes, Barbara! I wonder if the Waldbaums near me will have them for sale? I adore hummingbirds but I never saw one in Brooklyn. Do you see them in Staten Island? My sister-in-law in Arizona has so many hummingbirds visit her backyard and I always loved to watch them flitter around.

The purple looks great with them and I love the fabric you chose for the napkins! Great job!
Did you know they have hummingbird feeders with suction cups that can stick to the window so you don't have to hang them! That's not a bad way to go and it allows you to see them up close and personal!! :-)

  30. What a lovely tablescape! And I *love* the hummmingbird! Can you not put a feeder right outside your window? They make them that attach directly to the glass, which is such fun! :)

  33. Love the dishes. Thanks for your sweet comments. The shells are from all over the place, but not Italy unfortunately. La Donnina's head is made of towels shaped into a ball, covered with a white pillow case , and I drew her face with markers. She is cute, and was easy to make... I'm sure you can make one no problem.
    Ciao,
    Mary

  34. I love your dishes. I have not seen that pattern before. Lilacs and hummingbirds, such a sweet combination. I love how ypu put it with purple. It really made the purple in the dishes stand out. I love lilacs. I only have three dwarf bushes, but they were gorgeous this year and smelled heavenly. I just bought them last year after they had bloomed so I loved seeing them blossom. Hope you get some sweet lilacs soon. Thanks for sharing your beautiful table and yummy chicken with Share Your Cup.
    Hugs,
    Jann

  40. Great dishes and I love the purples and greens. I want to put up a hummingbird feeder too. I understand that once one puts it up it should not be moved. Have you heard that too?
