May Days

The month is gone and we welcome June.  May was busy as one of my very good friends, Marie, had two milestones.  I was fortunate to join her in celebrating both of them.

People say that "sixty is the new forty".  Uh,  jury is still out on that for me, but Marie's husband Bobby made sure she celebrated in style.

Bobby managed to pull off this surprise, even though 80 people were in on the secret.  The purple handbag was a chocolate cake covered in fondant. The shoe is all sugar and was the size of a real one.  The detail was amazing.  Watering can centerpieces were filled with pretty  flowers.  The favor (which is not clear), was a cake server in the shape of a shoe.

Marie also retired from the same bank I did.  We had a dinner in a local restaurant.

Some flowers from the centerpieces.

So now, parties are over and back to the yard work.    Also trying my first attempt at making jam from the first berries of the season, and they were the sweetest I ever tasted.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

PicMonkey is pretty good.  Need to play around more with it.

Have a good weekend.  I'll be joining The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays.

Good luck making your jam. My blackberries are ripening, and my children just cannot wait for them.

  14. Dearest Barbara,
What a big year your dear friend Marie is having this year☆☆☆
She sure did have the milestones and hope that her future will be the relaxing and fortunate one. Also her husband looks so sweet and I think really lucky of her to have that kind of thoughtful guy as a husband!
Oh, your berries look SO yummy♡♡♡ Fingers are crossed for making jam, my friend.
Whum, "PicMonkey"!!! I should try ownload when finding time, p;)

PS> Haha, you are already so familiar with Japanese Ramen. Yes, you live in Big Apple. My hubby worked 41 years as a bank clerk and just guessing hard it must have been for both of you.

    Love you always, xoxo Miyako*
