Blogging Tips

A good blogging buddy, Jane at Cottage of the Crossroads, has a new linky party 




Jane is co-hosting with Ann of  On Sutton Place.


At first, I thought I would not be able to join in.  I am a technically challenged person and still have a hard time with  maneuvering around on my humble blog. 




I knew from Day One that visiting and commenting were two things that I loved best.  Lingering over a cup of coffee after breakfast, I leave the drudgery behind and get lost in Blogland.


I discovered that by leaving comments, people stop by to visit you, too.  And you start a blogging relationship.  And get followers.  


Linky parties are wonderful when you want to get your blog noticed.  I am amazed at the amount of traffic I get after I add my link to my favorite weekly/monthly parties.  I was quite linky-challenged when I first started.  


Don't be afraid to ask for help.  I found my 'Guardian Angel' in Blogland, Brenda of Cozy Little House, while trying to look up blogging help.   I have met many wonderful, kind and helpful ladies in my blog travels.  


My advice would be to join in whenever you can, always leave a comment for the hostess, provide a link back to them on your post and visit other party goers.  


After a while everything just starts to fall into place.

  1. Oh I agree with you. To have comments, one must leave comments. It's simple enough...just like the old adage "to have a friend, one must be a friend." What a great idea for a linky party your friends had.

  2. That is indeed very good advice. I remember when I started blogging I noticed linky parties and my first one was Susan's Met Monday Link Up. I met the most amazing bloggers through that linky party and I love joining them to this day!

  6. Thank you for your tips...very helpful! At first, I was terrified to leave comments and join the linky parties...very tech challenged! But, people are kind in blogland and I have met a lot of wonderful people!

  15. I think your advice, to read others blogs and leave comments to form relationships is so important and you explained it well. I agree with you that we can learn so much from others and we must not be afraid to ask for help. I'm glad you found a "guardian sngel" in blogworld, to help you.   16. Great tips for blogging. We were all newbies at one time and needed help from others so these tips are really good advice! My first linky party was Pink Saturday and I'm still taking part. It's like visiting old friends! I'm going to click your link and check out the Gold Medal party.

    These are good, helpful blogging tips, and I agree with all of them. Linky Parties are a great way to meet other bloggers and find blogs similar to our own. I always love to visit you at Two Birdies and a "B", and I so appreciate your visits and comments on my blog posts. I think comments and visits from others are a big part of what inspires us to keep writing posts.

    To answer your question; yes, I am planning to go to the SBC in October! Could you possibly attend, do you think? It's open to everyone, not just Southerners. :)

  21. Fabulous tidbits and advise. It is not easy when you first start out. But as you go along you start understanding more and more. It really is a growing process but so worth the wait once your there.

  26. Those are some great tips for navigating around blogland. My first attempt at a links party was Michael Lee West's Foodie Friday. I goofed it up, but learned from my mistake. I have met so many wonderful people, also.

  30. Hi there, thanks for your visit. Yes, I agree, this is the way I found it all to work too. I was getting 80-100 comments a post and spending way to much time on the computer corresponding back. Going private has been wonderful, I found out after all that staying small was better for me. :)
