Where My Head Is At

I know it is the week for "Christmas in July" here in Blogland, but try as I might, I can't get my head into it at all.  Especially when visions like this are all I am thinking about lately.

I want to go to there!

I am not wishing summer away, no, not at all......

But these are the colors that speak to me, always have.

I want to make one of these sprays for my banister.  I am over the very fussy, too floofy (is that even a word?), or too plastic-y decor of the past.  I want simple and understated.

I have always loved pumpkins.  I tried planting them with no success, but I always buy a bunch for my home in the fall.  I am so sad to see them go!  Scarecrows, love them too.  I had a huge collection, scaled it down and haven't bought any in several years.  Still love them, they are always so darn cute.

The fall just makes you want to cook and bake and put up pots of soup or chili.

  8. I am soooo done with the hot, humid weather. If it could still be summer without that, I'd be content with summer. But, since it can't I'm ready for the cooler, crisper weather that fall has to offer. There is something so cozy and comfy about fall. I am looking forward to it too.
Your pictures are so pretty. We can dream, can't we?
I agree about Christmas. As much as I love it, it makes me a little nervous to think about it this soon.

  9. Goodness, I'm with you on always looking forward to Fall!!! Ever since we moved to Texas, almost 26 years ago, I've dreaded the summers. I'm like you in that I love the fall decor and the cooking, baking and just the homey-ness.

  11. Hi Barb, even though Spring is my favorite season I do love Fall. Just yesterday I was thinking that in just over a month I'll be pulling our my Fall decor. I too love cooking in the Fall more than any other time. Must admit I had a hard time pulling out Christmas for my post. Once I started it was kind of fun.
    Hugs,
    Jann

  12. I love that spray and would love that on my banister too.

Also, just like you I'm focused on a simple and genuine decorating and less "over the top" and plasticky. (If you can make up a word, so can I. ha!)

For me, I'm not even letting myself think of fall yet. I am just doggone determined not to wish the summer away this year like I always do.

  17. You've made me hungry for pumpkin pie! I love autumn too, but I suspect (with our drought) that we won't have the rich colors that we usually look forward to. Have a good day, Barbara!

  21. Barb, you and I are on the same page. I just simply cannot think about Christmas now. I too love fall, I love the crispness of the air. We don't have the beautiful fall color that you have in your area. I love New Hampshire in the fall as well.
Spring is my favorite season for Savannah because of all the awesome azaleas we have in this area.
Thank you for the breath of cool air.
