Headin' South This chickadee is goin'

Pinterest

When I first heard about the Southern Bloggers' Conference, I sent an email to one of the coordinators, Suzy, from the blog "Worthing Court".  I teasingly asked if a 'Yankee' girl might crash the conference.

I was kidding at that point.  The happy response I received back made me think about it seriously.  Then I saw the hotel where the conference is being held, The Embassy Suites- Crabtree Valley, and next thing I knew I was registered, booked my room and my airline tickets.

Embassy Suites - Raleigh, NC

I am looking to escape for a couple of days, and have a chance to learn more about blogging, meet vendors and hear about new products of interest to many of us, receive my "swag bag" (The TSA will not get their hands on any of my goodies, I will have them shipped home to me!), AND, most importantly, have the blessed opportunity to meet some of my favorite bloggers!

I have not flown in nine years, so I am more than a little nervous about that.  I thought I would have incentive to lose weight, didn't happen (I still have a month!), and finally arranged for the birdies' baby sitter (phew).  I am looking forward to this, I actually think I need to do this.   Kind of like stepping out of my "comfort zone".

I am joining the linky party going on here, and Seasonal Sundays.

  18. How exciting! Good for you for trying something out of your comfort zone. Years ago I signed up for one of Victoria Magazine's trips. It was a stitching trip to the UK. I asked several of my stitching buddies to go with me, but no one took me up on the invitation. So my husband encouraged me to go solo. I did, and I met some of the nicest women on this trip. Several of us have remained friends across the miles, and the experience was an opportunity of a lifetime. We studied under six different accomplished needlepoint designers and took a class at the Royal School of Needlework.
So go to the south and have a fabulous time. I bet you return home with many new friends in addition to those goodies you'll ship home. LOL

  27. Good for you Barbara! You will have a ball at the Southern Blogger's Conference. I bet you know so many of the bloggers attending already and now you will get to meet them in person. Speaking about being out of one's comfort zone - Hubby and I told our friends we would go on the tour with them to England, Scotland and Wales next year. I can't believe I'm considering it. I'm not scared to fly I just hate everything to do with it now. All the security, being treated like cattle and just being uncomfortable all around. Plus being in a foreign country will be totally out of my comfort zone. But then I have always wanted to visit England. And at least they speak English. We're researching clothing to take - we want to pack very light. We have ordered some special travel underwear that dries fast so we don't have to take so much with us. We can wash it out every night. Luckily we have lots of time to prepare. Have a lovely day sweetie!

  35. Can't wait to meet you, too! I had shed a few pounds last month and was hoping to lose a few more, but it just isn't happening right now! I haven't flown in a while, but the last time I did, I took a Zanex and it did help to relieve my anxiety.
