Hurry, Sandy, and Let's Get It Over With!

Never underestimate a woman born and raised in New York City. - Aviva Drescher, Real Housewives of NYC

I can no longer watch the news.  When the weatherman starts sputtering as he is talking about the impending Frankenstorm, well, I just can't deal with it.

I am hunkered down as best as I could be, have lanterns, batteries, canned goods, bottled water, a tasty milky Brie and a bottle of wine.  Oh, and some Halloween candy!  So I am ready.  I want it to be over with already.  I hate power outages, and I think we will be affected.  We dodged the bullet last year with Irene, I don't know if we can dodge another.

So if you don't hear from me, you will know why.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Halloween week, and I'll see ya when I see ya!

  1. Hi Barb,
We will have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Enjoy all the food and stay safe! We will look forward to hearing from you after the storm.
    Stay Safe!
    Miz Helen

  2. We're on Staten Island too, first time we have lived through a hurricane! Be safe.. may the storm pass quickly! :)

  3. You hang tough, Barbara. John and I laughed as I read your post aloud to him. It certainly sounds as if you are well prepared. Nothing like being Ground Zero there on Long Island... Courage! I'll be thinking of and praying for all of you Long Islanders as well as the rest of those affected.

  4. You are well stocked with the important things, Barbara! If it weren't for the impending storm, I'd be over for a visit! ;-D

Hang in there, stay safe and check in if you don't lose your power.

  5. Oh, Barbara, you all should gather and have a sleepover. I don't like the idea of people by themselves. But, you have candy, and that's important. Will be watching the news, and your blog.

  6. I didn't get my Halloween candy to take in to the office and now the lines are beyond belief. Stay safe and I'm keeping all of us in my prayers.

  7. Gosh. Where did I get THAT idea? My sister is on the northern end of Long Island...must've thought of you as another sister. =)

  8. I hope you will be safe and ride out the storm with your electric on. We will be doing the same here. Have a happy Sunday!

  9. Stay safe Barbara.

It must be very worrying for you.

We have no idea here in Ireland
how dreadful this must be for
people who are awaiting a storm.

I am glad that you are prepared
and I hope it passes over quietly and quickly.

    Take care of yourself

    Fiona x

  10. Thinking about all of you and wishing you the best. Be as safe as you can be! I will be out of pocket most of the week and unable to check in on ya, but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

  11. Be safe and take care dear Barbara, huggs! gloria

  12. Barbara - You all on the East Coast will be in my thoughts and prayers! It's kinda like us huddling down waiting on tornados.
You sound like you're prepared. Hope it all passes you by.

  13. Barbara, I will be thinking of you and all my friends on the East Coast.Stay safe. All of you will be in my prayers.

  14. Be safe out there! I'll be thinking about you.

  15. I'm with you, the waiting is awful. Take care:@)

  16. Oh Barbara, I can hardly believe a whole year has gone by since Irene paid us a visit. But you're right, and how time flies. I hope you guys will dodge the bullet again this time; it's awful to be sitting around waiting to see if the storm will pass by you or not. We have so many tornadoes in the spring around here.

I'll be thinking about you, and I hope the storm moves back out to sea and you are not affected. I'm behind on my visiting; we've had some maintenance issues to take care of at our house. I'm off to visit your other posts. :)

    Take care of yourself!

    Denise at Forest Manor

  17. Dera Barbara, i' ll pray for you and for your family.
    With great love...kisses.
