The pattern is Italian Countryside, Holiday Wreath and Holiday Christmas Bouquet. I received two accent plates of each of the three patterns. Four are edged in red, and two in green. I placed them on my Spode Christmas Tree dinner plates. The Spode were my mother's, a long ago Christmas gift to her from my father.
I also received a beautiful platter
And a vegetable bowl
My parents wedding silverplate, First Love by 1847 Rogers Bros. It is 65 years old. They were married in 1947.
The centerpiece is an old fashioned fire truck, transporting a tree. You see, December for me is a time for remembrance for my dad, he was born the 22nd and died the 26th. This is my little tribute.
It even came with wreath, which is magnetic

The fire truck story certainly tugged at my heart! What a sweet tribute to your dad. What a lucky girl you are to have won those fabulous plates and that ribbon candy reminds me of my childhood - I have not had any in years!! Merry Christmas, Barbara!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Barbara. Love the tribute to your father. Congrats on your win! A very Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful win! Those dishes are simply gorgeous. Oh and I am so ready for "O Holy Night." Just like Amy Grant, I'm ready for one.
ReplyDeleteYour dad's life was all around Christmas. Do you find that comforting? It seems as if it might be. I remember reading that wonderful tribute you wrote to him and sharing the photo of Little Girl you in his arms. Sweetness! The Circle Won't Be Broken...
I have been eyeing those holiday plates to go with the Italian countryside all season and trying to remember they are a "want" and not a "need". What a huge blessing for you that you WON them! I love the whole table, right on down to the ribbon candy. I hadn't even thought to use it here, and it would be perfect in my kitchen. Ribbon candy always reminds me of my grandmother. Someone else posted about anise cookies recently, and they remind me of her too. I guess Grama is on my mind this Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, lovely table you've set!! I'd love to sit down with you for a meal! And I adored the fire truck decoration ... I have a particular affinity for all things fireman related! :)
ReplyDeleteBarbara,adorabile la tua tavola!Baci,Rosetta
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table... just perfect for Christmas dinner.

Thank you for your sweet visit, and kind comments.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and blessed New Year!
Warm wishes.....

Hi Barbara, Lucky you! Your new china makes a pretty table. Love the old toy truck too. Wish I would have saved some of our old toys. As a girl I loved trucks, lots of boy cousins I guess, but I was pretty hard on them in the dirt pile next door. Christmas is a time for memories. Wishing you a very Merry One!

Hi Barbara, Your firetruck centerpiece for your father is a wonderful touch to your table. I miss my Dad so much! Your bible verse at the end of the post is speaking to me right now. Things are still so sad around here. Your table, though, is so cheerful and pretty. Don't you just love flatware from the 40s? Have a wonderful evening. Linda
