It started with an 'after Christmas' sale at Pier I. And since I had a gift card to boot (thanks, Di.), I grabbed the gold metal tree with birds (of course, you know what I liked best). White rose wreath from Christmas Tree Shoppe, $9.99
At this original price, there wasn't a snowball's chance in you-know-where that it was coming home with me. However, at this price ($9.68), here we are!
I bought these cute frosted heart ornaments. I needed ten, at $2 each, they cost more than the tree.
I added the red rose to cover the star, I thought the star made the tree much more Christmas-y.
A bucket of "snowballs", great for an indoor snowball fight. Mod Podge and Epsom salts over Styrofoam balls. These are from my 'January Blues' tablescape post. Sorry for the poor picture quality. I was having a hard time with the camera, lighting and uploading today.
A new blogging friend, Sally at Drinking From My Saucer, sent me five lovely note cards she made using her fabulous photos. These are original photos attached to blank note cards. Thanks so much, Sally, I love all of them. Others to follow in future posts.
This is my favorite, as this is my word for 2013.
I also purchased these pine scented wax melts, originally $6.95, marked down to $1.68.
This was also an opportunity to show you my "illusion" of "foyer". As soon as you step through my front door, you are standing in my dining area. I used this narrow wall (side of my coat closet) as a way of pulling attention away from the table the moment you walk in, and from my living room to the immediate left. It also gives me a bit more space for holiday decor.
I'll be sharing the love at the following parties.
Thanks to all the hostesses. Please stop by and say hi.

ReplyDeleteHi Barbara! I love your sweet table and your Valentine prettiness! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and be a sweetie,
ReplyDeleteShelia ;)
Hi Barbara, I'm so glad I got to see your "illusion." It looks like a real foyer to me; it's charming. I especially love the console table and the mirror. The mirror looks like Venetian glass -- it's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your Valentine's decor. Those heart ornaments are beautiful and so is the white rose wreath. You've done a lovely job with this vignette; it makes me want to go shopping. :) I still have my snowmen out, but no Valentine's yet.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Barbara, I like how you've made your foyer. Love the Valentine's Day tree you created too! Those little heart ornaments are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery darling Valentine tree and how smart to create a foyer of sorts. I wish I could somehow because one just falls into the living room upon entry.
ReplyDeleteSally is such a sweetheart for sending along those beautiful note cards.
Oh Barbara - I'm so happy to see you using the note cards in a way that makes you happy. I was so tickled to be able to share them with you, and even more-so to have made such a sweet friend. You're Valentine tree is lovely!!! (I love birds, too!) Hugs to you, new Friend! ~Sally

ReplyDeleteBarbara - I am so sorry that I did not realize that you were not feeling well during the Christmas holidays. Let's both hope that 2013 is better!! I do love that tree and it is so perfect for you! It is such a flexible piece that you can re-decorate over and over! Wishing you a very Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteYour little tree is so cute! Love the hearts! I know Christmas was hard for many this year with the tragedies that happened!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, your tree with its red hearts is just the cutest thing. I'll have to admit that I've decorated more for Valentine's Day this year than usual. Love the snowballs in the bucket, too. That was a good idea to put a rose at the top of your tree.
ReplyDeleteYour Valentine's tree is adorable! Such a great deal, and versatile for other holidays, too! Love it!

Barbara, your "love" decorations look wonderful. Love the tree and the frosted ornaments, but the white wreath is beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteJudy
I think your little tree is just darling and what a great deal you got for waiting! It's perfect for Valentines Day and I can see you decorating it for a lot more occasions!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the scented wax melts. I was given a little plug in candle wax warmer for Christmas. Yankee makes these little tarts you melt in it. Are your wax melts for this?
If so, I have to get over to Pier 1!!
XO,
Jane
Barbara ,it looks that the love is in your heart and your home !
ReplyDeleteYour Valentine decor is lovely and welcoming for you and everybody will visit your home !

ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you felt like decorating for Valentine's Day, Barbara. I love your pretty metal tree and your heart ornaments are adorable. The wreath looks so pretty hanging in front of the mirror. It sure looks like a foyer to me. May this year bring you much JOY! xo

ReplyDeleteBarbara,
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I have been wanting this gold tree with the birds! Every time I go in there I want to buy it but never do because it's a bit pricey. Are they on sale now? Pier 1 Imports is my FAVORITE store, and I always find something there. I love the way you hung the polka dot hearts on the tree. "Joy" is one of my favorite words too. What a lovely post today - I loved everything about it. Have a nice week.
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Oh, my end table is almost exactly like that too, and I have my Valentine goodies on it. Love your display as well.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Very nice. Love those hearts!
ReplyDeleteHi, Barbara! Thanks for stopping by my place earlier! There are a couple of things that are really great about your post: (1) You say you are feeling my joyous than you were about a month or so ago which suggests that the balance of your "brain chemicals and hormone levels" as described on your side bar are in sync. Hooray for that!!! (2) You got a WHALE of a deal on that gold tree!!!!!! You did a really good job of transforming it from a Christmas look to one for Valentine's Day. Even though the little heart ornaments were pricey, you'll be able to use them year after year in different ways. Good idea to put the little table there to create the illusion of a foyer. That makes a lot of sense to me! Have a great day, and thanks so much again for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLove how you made a valentine tree with all the hearts - great idea and very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely purchases! You did so well with your gift card at Pier One! I'm so sorry you were feeling sad during the holidays. It's very common, you know so don't feel you are alone. Hugs.
