And she lived apple-y ever after

I don't like rushing the seasons, but with all the rain the past couple of days, it has me thinking a bit about fall.

I did buy two pumpkins in Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago, but I think I will start taking out my apple decor first.

I have been getting lots of inspiration from Pinterest.

I bobbed for apples just once in my life, when I was a teen

Now I would love this as a centerpiece

Can't wait to get out to Battle View or Eastmont Orchards to go apple pickin'

Wonderful dessert in an edible bowl

Meantime, I am going to enjoy the rest of the summer!

  2. Not ready to decorate, but am eager for this year's apples. I just hate to see the days get shorter.

  3. I think that's how we first connected, Barbara...with our mutual love for autumn! I saw your "countdown to fall" on your blog when I visited one of Vee's note card parties.

I saw mums at Home Depot yesterday and my heart did a little flutter. :)

  5. Barb,
We had an apple tree in our back yard when i was growing up. Where my Dad built our home used to be an orchard. Both my Mom and my Dad made the best apple pies!!
I love Fall but i am bummed out that I will not be decorating for it because of our floor remodel.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

    Hugs,
    Debbie

  8. You know, I've never been one to rush the seasons either, but THIS YEAR I decided to pretend summer wasn't existing and give myself permission to dream and plan for fall during the month of August. I've been doing the same thing you have in scouring pinterest, etc. for Fall inspiration.

  9. Oh Barbara! I love Fall, but we usually just sort of slide from summer right into winter! Hopefully, this year, we will have a real one! I do love crisp beautiful apples and the idea of using them for dessert bowls was so cute!

  10. Cute title for this post, Barbara.
I guess you already know that I feel the same way about the upcoming fall season. I think it all started with looking at other people's Pinterest (fall) boards which led me to discover a large group of autumn lovers on Tumblr. Oh my, I could get lost for hours there.
I love all of your photos today, especially the one with the "apples ahead" sign. I could live happily in that house.

  11. Love it all, but could you tell me where the source of the apples with the desert inside them could be found?? That looks so neat! Enjoy your week end.

By the way, where is there a Hobby Lobby close to you?

Great to have you at Seasonal Sundays.

  18. Hi Barbara,

I love the title of this blog post and love your "to do list!" I re-pinned a bunch of your pretty fall pics last week, my friend. :)

I think the bobbing apples and floating candles is a wonderful image and such a great idea for a centerpiece. So many clever and creative folks out there. I feel the same way you do -- looking forward to fall but trying to enjoy the rest of the summer. It was very hot here today, but we had a beautiful blue sky with puffy white clouds.

I hope you have a great week. :)

    Hugs,

  19. Put my "Apple" décor on display a month ago. I'm itching to bring out the fall decorations, but I have to wait until my usual October 1st date.
I bought a ceramic pumpkin last week at Good will. I did not need it since I have so many already, but I'm sure I will find a place to poke this one. :-)

  22. Oh, I do love autumn and apples. I never been one for pumpkin pie but I love sweet potato pie. I think it is a southern thingie.
The inspiration pics are so pretty. That apple dessert looks awesome.

  23. As much as I love the fall time, I don't want to give up summer yet! I love all the photos you chose. We went to Hobby Lobby last Friday and they already have Christmas stuff out...sigh...I think that's sad. I hate seeing the seasons rushed. I don't think the apples are in here yet, but I enjoy it when they are! It's been holding in the 70's here lately and the evenings are dropping into the mid to upper 50's. It's been very comfortable! I love that picture of the apples with the floating candles. What a great centerpiece that would be for a fall party!

  24. It was only 58 when I woke up this morning and it felt and smelled like fall. Last August was so hot, this is just perfect. I know it will get hot again, but I would like to keep the daylight of summer with the temperatures of fall, all year long. It is that cold, dark stuff that follows that I don't deal with well at all!

  25. I love fall, but I am definitely not ready to let go of summer yet. Love that apple and candle centerpiece. xo Laura

  27. Oh Barbara,
I love your "apple" post, and I am looking forward to Fall. I can't help myself, it's a great season. That caramel drizzling over the apples looks yummy. I bobbed for apples once too, but I was a young girl, but we always remember the fun and different times in our life, don't we? From one Fall lover to another, have a great weekend.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

  29. I wish I were as ready to embrace fall as you. I'm sure it's due to the fact that we haven't had the best summer here, weather-wise. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a beautiful fall :) Love your list!

  30. Barbara, the apples are perfect for transitioning into fall! I plan to pull out my stuff this week, to see what I have to work with. We've had some cooler temps, so it has me in the mood for Fall. I usually wait until September; so,this is a great 'planning' time for me.
