A Surprise Tea

My 60th birthday was in August, but a dear friend with a hectic schedule surprised me a couple of weeks ago with tea at Palm Court in the Plaza Hotel in NYC!  First time visit to a very iconic NYC oasis.

It was great seeing the Freedom Tower coming out of the tunnel, especially since it was Veterans' Day.

The menu!

Delicious selection of sandwiches, including mini bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese.  We could not finish all of it so they boxed it up for us.

I felt so special.  Thanks, Dawn!  You are a dear friend, in good times and bad.

Beautiful red floral display in the lobby.

Another reminder of how lucky we are to live in the land of the free, because of the brave.

Hoping to be back posting on a regular basis!

  1. Hi Barbara! It's so great to see a post from you!! I love these pictures because I've never seen any images of the Freedom Tower. Love the red, white and blue in the last picture. :)

This looks like a wonderful place to have tea -- especially a birthday tea. Yummy looking items on the menu; I always love seeing those fancy sandwich tiers like the one in your photo. Someday, I'd love to go somewhere like that for a really nice tea -- something to look forward to. I hope all is well with you and your sweet birds, and I wish for you a very blessed and thankful Thanksgiving!!

    Warm hugs,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  7. What a wonderful birthday treat! I am all in favor of extending birthday celebrations as long as you can. That menu looks scrumptious! (And extensive. I'd have had to get a box too.)

Happy birthday to you! And happy Thanksgiving!

  16. Happy Belated birthday! Since I haven't even opened my own blog page for a while, I hadn't seen that you had posted. Aren't you/didn't you have a great vacation adventure this fall?

I loved the idea of the surprise tea. That's up my alley. (I was going to say that it was my cup of tea, but I figure that was just too lame.) My favorite shot is the first one of Freedom Tower. AWESOME!

Selfishly, I hope you are back to a blogging routine soon. I truly, truly, miss reading favorite blogs as much as I grieve the loss of my own words.

  17. I did not know you were blogging again, Barbara, and I did not know you celebrated a special 60th BD in August! This sounds like a wonderful BD celebration! When one turns 60 one should celebrate all year long! :)
