Happy Valentine's Day!

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do.....but how much love we put in that action.

Perspectives On Winter

Winter Solitude by Matsuo Basho (1644-1694). Haiku shared by

Winter solitude -
In a world of one color
The sound of wind.

Winter garden.

Winter garden,
The moon thinned to a thread,
Insects singing.

First Winter Rain

First winter rain ---
even the monkey
Seems to want a raincoat.

When the Winter Chrysanthemums Go

When the winter chrysanthemums go,
There's nothing to write about
But radishes

Winter Bounty

Tender roots below
Howling wind and begging birds
Oh where is my beloved?

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of attending another East Coast Women's Salon hosted by Flo Schell in her lovely home.  I did a post about the first one I attended, The Autumn Woman, back in October 2013.  Apologies as I cannot link or copy and paste a thing when in this Blogger app on the iPad.

This salon was all about dealing with winter.  On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give this season only a 1.  We spoke about embracing the solitude ( which I personally do all year as a single woman living alone), nesting, catching up on chores like decluttering or working on projects.  But there is also that feeling of disconnecting.  When throwing out the trash and collecting mail become a hassle, and where I live, both involve a bit of a walk, on sometimes cleared, most of the time not cleared, surfaces, yes, I tend to feel very very disconnected and alone.

But hot cocoa helps, good neighbors and dear friends are a blessing, and no season lasts forever!

Flo also led the group in meditation.  We listened to tapes by Oprah and Deepak Chopra.  I have always wanted to learn to mediate, I could never find the time or be able to clear my head completely.  With these tapes, I became very relaxed and almost fell asleep!   I will be looking for these on Amazon.

Otherwise, status quo here.  My poor little birdie had a bad sinus infection and a scratch on her cornea.  After ten days of antibiotics and eye drops, she is all better and whisting up a storm.

I divvied up my goodies from the Kerrygold prize pack with several people helping me cope with this winter.  I need to do some baking with this beautiful butter.

We are expecting our sixth major storm of the season (11 storms in total).  I am pretty much all set.  Expecting 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow.  Friends, please feel free to remind me of this winter when I am blogging about the trouble with weeds!

Stay warm and cozy to all in the path of this latest one!
